Our 2021 Virtual AGM!

To start off the new year with our new board members, we had our virtual Annual General Meeting, which by the way was incredibly fun! It was filled with laughter and excitement as we had fun ice breaking games to get to know each other, learn to discuss and work together for one solution and creative games to explore our imagination!

We kicked off our AGM with an introduction of the new board members for the year 2021 to 2022. Meet the new Board:

• Koffi Paul - President

• Josiah Farrell- Vice President

• Jordan Davidson - Secretary

• Yelena Robinson - Treasurer

• Stephanie - Public Relations Officer

• Isabella Noriega - Website Manager

• Jodie Russell - University Representative

This was followed by a recap of last year's projects with visual assistance from our power point presentation. Then we got into a competitive Trivia game, using the Slido app, where questions were asked about MADE, like "Who was last year's president?" and "When was the organization founded?" The winner was the amazing Emily Hospedales, last year's treasurer!

Special acknowledgement was then given to two of our hardworking volunteers for the year 2020-2021.

The Icebreaker: Two Truths 1 Lie

Here's one way to help our volunteers get to know each other! Everyone was split into breakout rooms to take turns sharing their three "facts" while the others guessed which was a lie. Exciting things were discovered about each other like learning who's bilingual and who's swam with dolphins and sharks! Cool right?

Work Together or Die: Desert Island

Here's where we tested how effective that icebreaker was! Can we work together? In breakout rooms, a list of 14 items were shared. Each group discussed and decided on what 3 items we must bring with us to survive on a Desert Island and why. You can just imagine how chaotic that discussion was. Many opinions and lots of laughter! It got even crazier when the different groups came together to share what three items they each came up with.

Volunteer Insight: Project Ideas

Not so much a game, but very important nevertheless. Our volunteers are a huge part of our success and their input is of great importance to us. In this "game," we gave our volunteers the opportunity to share their own ideas for future projects we could engage in. A variety of ideas were distributed from each group. Soon you'll get to see them in action!

Let's Get Creative: Fairytale

The craziest game of them all! And also, a competition! One person says a sentence and each person in the room continues from that sentence until time is up. One person takes note of everything so we could then read out the wild and fun story that we created. I wish I could share the humorous stories we came up with, I promise you'd laugh. But one more thing, Could you guess which group won? MINE did!
